Ice forming around a boat lift cradle can deform aluminum frame legs, freeze cables and cylinders in place, and stress hydraulic seals. A dedicated small-horsepower de-icer positioned under or beside the lift cradle keeps that specific area circulating and free of ice, separate from any main-channel de-icer serving the rest of the slip.
Placement Guidance
Position a dedicated 1/2 HP-class unit beneath or immediately adjacent to the lift cradle rather than relying solely on a de-icer positioned elsewhere in the slip.
Keep the unit angled away from direct contact with the cradle structure and cabling.
Inspect cables, pulleys, and hydraulic lines for ice buildup before each freeze event where practical.
